- This past weekend I fixed the front brake (reverse purged it with a vacuum hose and an old syringe, master cylinder looked like a jacuzzi from all the air), changed gasoline and filled her up and fixed the air intake hose to the carburator. This coming weekend I'll make an oil change and change all filters (don't know if tank needs to be drained to change fuel filter, if so that one'll have to wait). Will also change the battery. Then she'll be highway ready.
- Getting her plated, probably this week.
- Transmission is belt driven. I've seen some minor cracks in it and sooner or later I know it'll have to be changed. When that time comes, I'll probably convert to chain and sprocket transmission which would allow me to play around with ratios a little. Belt sprockets only come in one size.
- The current air filter box takes up a lot of space, so when changing filters I will be looking into an alternative solution. This should free up some space that could be used for storage or something. Consider it our first customization mod.
- The main reasons I chose this bike: a) Simplicity of construction. One cylinder. One carburator. As simple as it gets. Simplicity is one of the corner stones of reliability. Reminiscent of the ulbator way of doing things. b) Ought to be easy to modify according to my preferences and needs. It doesn't look too bad as it is. But the head honcho is a tall guy and some riding ergonomics modifications will need to be done. And even though it looks good as it is, the head honcho has elevated aesthetic standards so changes will be made, both appearance and performance related. On a little by little basis. Oh, and we will need to come up with a solution for luggage.
- She plays a role, even though indirect, in at least three ulbator projects that are coming up. One in the short term, one in the medium term, one in the long term. You'll like 'em. Can't say anymore - business intelligence.
- She is almost as fun to wrench as she is to ride.
