- Turns out a couple of her nieces were cast as extras for this movie, shot at Calderones, Gto. I saw it a few weeks back and that's how the topic came up. Actually, one important scene is shot up in the mountains, on a plain that I frequently cross to go camping. The movie is really good, in a crude and uncomfortable way.
- She was complaining about all the creatures and critters that plague the hot season. According to her records, one dude actually died from a spider sting a week back, after a couple of days in the hospital. Probably "Viuda Negra" (Black Widow) or "Violinista" (think it's "Fiddleback" in English).
- The other day as she was cleaning the house, she made her way to the backyard and sun-gazing on the brick wall surrounding it (almost all houses and properties in Mexico have a brick wall surrounding them) was a two meter (about two yards, or six and a half feet) rattle snake. This anecdote would also fall under the critter category, although the heftier kind. Her husband had to chop in two with the machete, what seems to have been a rather mature snake as it had 14 rattle segments.
Reyna has been working with me since after Christmas. She has turned out to be a very valuable contributor to ulbator and also a person who knows a thing or two about snakes.
